The organizing committee and the mayors in the catchment area of the Rechbergrennen think and act sustainably!
As a result of the detailed sustainability analysis of the 2023 event, a tree seedling distribution campaign was carried out in March 2024 together with the municipalities of Fladnitz an der Teichalm and Semriach.
In the course of this, 1,000 tree seedlings were distributed to residents along the Rechberg federal road. This will sustainably bind the greenhouse gas emissions emitted by the racing cars during the event.
From 2025, two further impulses will be set:
The e-car sharing service offered by the Almenland climate and energy model region in cooperation with the market town of Passail is financially supported by Rechbergrennen GmbH. (From the planned renewal of the electric vehicle in the 1st quarter of 2025).
The average annual mileage of the electric vehicle of 20,000 km and the operation of the vehicles of the organizing committee results in a saving of greenhouse gas emissions of at least 4.0 tons of CO2e. (The life cycle assessment of passenger cars, Federal Environment Agency, published by the Federal Ministry for Climate Action, Environment, Energy, Mobility, Innovation and Technology(rep0763.pdf)).
The Grand Prix of Austria thus confirms its leading role throughout Europe in terms of sustainability.
The vehicles of the race management, the track safety officer and the advance vehicles will run on sustainable fuel from 2025.
